The Hoops right-back is a doubt for the Europa League playoff first leg at Parkhead on Thursday.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Neil Lennon’s fitness update regarding Hatem Abd Elhamed ahead of the Europa League meeting with AIK on Thursday night.
The Hoops right-back is a doubt for the first leg after picking up a knock in training, leaving the side even more depleted on both flanks of the defence, with just Anthony Ralston as an alternative to the summer signing on the right.
The update came as yet another frustrating blow for the Bhoys fanbase, many of whom have been calling all summer for the club to bolster the defensive positions, but with little having been done on the transfer front so far – and its consequences in the form of Champions League elimination.
Here is some of what said on social media regarding the Elhamed update:
As speculated by the Glasgow Evening Times, it now looks likely that Kristoffer Ajer will deputise on the right of a back four with Jozo Simunovic and Christopher Jullien potentially being used as the central two, while Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo may also return to the starting line-up after he was dropped for CFR Cluj last time out.
