He has 18 goals in 75 appearances for Celtic across the past three seasons, but has scored just one of these goals this campaign.
Another loan move may be his best bet, and Newcastle United should try and get him on board for next season.
Roberts would be an upgrade on 28-year-old Matt Ritchie, and he could benefit from a new stage to showcase his talents.
The young winger is only 21-years-old and he could benefit from working under manager Rafa Benitez.
In the same way Kenedy has flourished since signing on loan from Chelsea, Roberts could be excellent on the opposite flank and help make Newcastle one of the league’s most exciting attacking teams.
Roberts is a player reportedly already on Newcastle’s radar, with The Chronicle claiming last summer he was a player they were interested in signing on loan.
He chose to return to Celtic after last year’s Invincibles season, but now he knows how the follow up to that memorable campaign will look, and he should consider a totally new option.
Roberts shouldn’t give up on his Manchester City hopes yet. An impressive loan in the Premier League could set him up to succeed, and Newcastle could be ideal.
