Celtic want Edouard Michut and are preparing to offer Paris Saint-Germain around £2million for the young midfielder.

The Bhoys have added two new faces this summer with goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist and left back Alexandro Bernabei arriving.

Celtic have also wrapped up permanent deals for Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota, meaning the Bhoys look very strong heading into next season.

Ange Postecoglou will still want new signings though and it seems that a new midfielder is a key priority.

Celtic want Edouard Michut

There were links to anchor men like Alfa Semedo and Vinicius Souza but Celtic now seem to fancy a playmaker.

Sky Sports report that Celtic are showing a real interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain talent Edouard Michut.

It’s claimed that Celtic are ready to offer around £2million for Michut in the hope of securing a deal.

Michut, 19, is considered to be an exciting talent and had interest from Europe’s elite last summer before choosing to stay at PSG.

Yet having played just 67 minutes of Ligue 1 action for PSG last season, Michut is irritated and wants to leave.

L’Equipe reported in May that Michut is seeking a move away and fancied joining Sevilla, but PSG were demanding around €8million (£6.75million).

That means Celtic’s £2million bid would be some way short of the asking price, if that valuation still stands now.

A technically-gifted midfielder rather than a defensive powerhouse, Michut would be a great fit into Postecoglou’s approach.

Michut should certainly consider Celtic as an appealing option, especially after seeing former PSG talents Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard shine at Parkhead.

The teenager was hailed as an ‘important player’ for PSG’s future by Yohan Cabaye in December 2021 but the first-team minutes just haven’t been there.

Having seen Christopher Nkunku and Moussa Diaby become stars after leaving PSG for first-team action, Michut could do the same with a move to Celtic this summer.
