Celtic want to sign Dylan Reid and have now made a bid to beat rivals Rangers to the St Mirren teenager’s signature.

The Bhoys are of course focusing on signing first-team players and have enjoyed a strong summer in that regard.

Permanent deals have been done for Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota whilst Alexandro Bernabei Benjamin Siegrist are the new arrivals.

Celtic will also have young talents in mind for the future as well though, and they appear to be moving in for a player of that ilk.

Celtic want to sign Dylan Reid

The Scottish Sun report that Celtic have now made a cash offer worth £125,000 for St Mirren teenager Dylan Reid.

St Mirren are understood to be considering the offer and talks are continuing between the two clubs.

Celtic have allegedly been scouting Reid for months and have now moved in to try and strike a deal.

Benfica are also interested but Celtic’s main competition comes from bitter rivals Rangers.

The Daily Record claim that Rangers also have a cash offer on the table having made their bid last week.

Reid is now at the centre of a real tug-of-war between Celtic and Rangers, just as Motherwell kid Bailey Rice was earlier this summer.

Rice ended up picking Rangers but Celtic are desperate to win this race and have designs on getting Reid into their academy.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou confirmed the interest in Reid and that he would be one for the future rather than an immediate first-team player.

Reid, 17, has come up through the St Mirren ranks and has already made four first-team appearances for the club.

Reid did spend time on loan at Queen’s Park earlier this year and has four caps for Scotland’s Under-17’s.

Diminutive and technically impressive, Reid was hailed as ‘excellent’ by boss Jim Goodwin after starting his first St Mirren league game at the age of just 16 last year.

Celtic and Rangers are going head to head now and this battle could be settled this week with the two offers now submitted.
