Celtic lost manager Brendan Rodgers on Tuesday evening, as he completed a move back to the Premier League with Leicester City.
The Bhoys would have expected Rodgers to at least see out the season as Celtic are pursuing a third straight domestic treble, but he moved on in a surprisingly rapid move.
Whilst Neil Lennon has come in as caretaker, Rodgers isn’t the only man to leave Parkhead for Leicester, with Chris Davies, Kolo Toure and Glen Driscoll also leaving Celtic.
Incredibly, The Scottish Sun report that two more Celtic men are heading to Leicester this summer, with coaches John Kennedy and Stephen Woods expected to make the move too.
That would be five members of Rodgers’ Celtic staff leaving, and yet one man he brought to Parkhead doesn’t appear to be in line for a move to the East Midlands.
Lee Congerton became Celtic’s Head of Recruitment in 2017 having worked with Rodgers at Chelsea, but his record in the transfer market has been disappointing at best.
The likes of Kundai Benyu, Marvin Compper and Charly Musonda have been major flops, and that has resulted in many Celtic fans openly wanting Congerton to leave Parkhead.
They may have been hoping that, due to their close relationship, Rodgers would take Congerton to Leicester with him in a scouting role, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Leicester already have a head of recruitment in Eduardo Macia, and with no mention of Congerton heading to Leicester with Rodgers, it seems that Celtic will be keeping him for now, but Rodgers’ exit may see the club part ways with him anyway after an underwhelming stint.
