Michael Stewart urges Brendan Rodgers to pick Celtic’s top two strikers together.
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele celebrates scoring a goal
Moussa Dembele has been a sensation at Celtic since signing, scoring the winner against Rangers at the weekend.
He now has four goals in two matches against their Old Firm rivals, and has also been on target in the Champions League.
His form has seen Leigh Griffiths often reduced to playing a substitute role, despite netting 40 goals for the club last season.
Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths celebrates
Pundit Michael Stewart has urged Celtic to pick them both together, comparing them in style to former Manchester United strike partners Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.
He told the Scottish Sun: “I see it as a similar situation to when Van Persie and Rooney were at Manchester United together a couple of seasons back.
“Fergie found a way to get both in the team without them compromising each other’s style. It is the same for Griffiths and Dembele. I believe they can complement each other and feed off each other.”

The duo combined to set up Dembele’s winner in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park at the weekend, and that could spark manager Brendan Rodgers into increasing their playing time alongside each other, with Griffiths coming off the bench in the fixture.
Rodgers though could decide his current methods are working just fine, into one cup final already, and sitting top of the table.
They are four points clear of Aberdeen with a game in hand, while bitter rivals Rangers lag behind in fifth place.
