Celtic will be hoping to make a strong start to their Europa League campaign on Thursday.
Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has predicted that their upcoming Europa League clash against Rosenborg will be far more open than the last time they met at Parkhead.
The two teams were pitted against each other earlier in the season for Champions League qualification and the Bhoys won 3-1 on aggregate over two legs, but both have ended up in the Europa League competition.
Brendan Rodgers’ team won the home tie against Norwegian champions Rosenborg 3-1 at the end of July and had to respond to conceding an early goal, with Odsonne Edouard the two-goal hero on that occasion.
Celtic left-back Tierney believes it will be a completely different contest in Thursday night’s game between the two clubs and is expecting an open game.
“It’s going to be different to the knockouts,” Tierney said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“It will be much more open. The way we bounced back from that game was magnificent. We showed character that night and hopefully we don’t go behind this time, but if we do we know we can come back.
“The start of the game will be important for us. We’ll look to get out sharp, press well and hopefully get a few goals.”
Celtic will be aiming to start their group stage campaign with three points and should look to be on the front foot against Rosenborg.
The Scottish champions have been dealt a difficult group on paper, with FC Salzburg and RB Leipzig the other two teams they will play both home and away.
Rodgers has cleaned up domestic silverware during his two-year spell with Celtic, but will be judged largely on his side’s performances in European football this campaign.
