The Frenchman has already scored 12 goals for the Hoops in all competitions.

Erik Sviatchenko has heaped praise upon Celtic teammate Moussa Dembele and suggested that there are two reasons why he is a nightmare to defend against, the Daily Record reports.

When the Frenchman arrived at Parkhead in the summer, few would have imagined that he would be anything more than Leigh Griffiths’ understudy, given his lack of experience and Griffiths’ stunning form last season.

However, the 20-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Hoops career. Dembele has already scored 12 times in all competitions, including a brace in their 3-3 draw with Manchester City in midweek, and, of course, a hat-trick in the Old Firm victory.

And Sviatchenko has been hugely impressed by what he has seen so far, and has suggested that the youngster has the attributes that will allow him to improve his game even further in the future.

“He could become a really good player but he’s not complete yet – he still has things to improve,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“He works hard and is always improving his finishes after training and you see it pays off.

“He’s dominant with his head and gets where he needs to be in the box. As a defender, his physicality and speed make him a nightmare.”

While spending nearly a month on the sidelines is likely to be the reason that Brendan Rodgers has taken a cautious approach bringing Griffiths back into the fold over the last three games, it is surely only because of Dembele’s form that Rodgers has been able to take it easy with the Bhoys’ talisman.

During Ronny Deila’s tenure, it would have surely been unthinkable to imagine Griffiths not going straight back into the starting line-up when he returned from injury.

But Dembele’s arrival and subsequent development means that Rodgers now has two goalscorers in his ranks who can inspire the side to glory.
