The Hoops full-back is being linked with a move away from Parkhead with Arsenal said to be keen.

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has spoken highly of Hoops teammate Kieran Tierney, saying he has “everything you’d want in a modern day full-back” and rubbishing criticism suggesting that he is not worth £25million amid reported interest from Arsenal (Herald Scotland).

Tierney continues to be linked with a move to the English Premier League side, with Football Scotland stating that Gunners manager Unai Emery is keen to bring the Bhoy wonder to North London, but the Hoops are standing firm on their £25million valuation, having already knocked back two bids for him.

Clubs south of the border have until 11pm BST on Thursday 8 August to complete deals (The Scottish Sun) so there is still a week left for the saga to be settled, and although Gordon admits the Celtic contingent still doesn’t know what will happen about Tierney, he definitely thinks he would excel wherever he plays.

“He’s got all the ability in the world, Kieran,” Gordon told Herald Scotland. “He’s also got the work ethic to go down there and be successful. He’s got the desire to be the best he can be in every single training session and every single game.

“He leads in all the stats, one of the top two or three in that. That’s because he pushes himself so hard. It’s a great thing to have in anybody’s team. It’ll be great for us if he does stay and continues to play as he has done because he’s been so consistent for so many years now. But if he goes then it’s a great price tag. It’ll need to be big because he’s so good.”

Craig Gordon of Celtic reacts to his teams second goal of the game during the Betfred Cup Final between Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC at Hampden Park on November 27, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Gordon became the most expensive British goalkeeper following a £9million switch from Hearts to Sunderland in 2007, and Tierney could dwarf that fee and break the transfer record for a Scottish player should Arsenal pay the reported £25million fee.

“You can’t say Kieran isn’t worth that kind of money,” added the stopper. “Listen, my fee looks tiny these days in comparison to the deals getting done now, but that’s just the way it’s gone with the market values in the game.

“A £25m player could have been £5m a few years ago. That’s just what it is so we almost have to put that to one side and not look at the figures and only concentrate on the ability of the player. And Kieran has everything you’d want in a modern day full-back. Whoever manages to get him playing for them this season is lucky because he’s going to be a massive player for us or anybody else.”
