Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers had wanted Sean Longstaff, but now Celtic are said to be keen on the midfielder.

Newcastle player Sean Longstaff looks on during a pre-season friendly match between Hull City and Newcastle United at KCOM Stadium on July 24, 2018 in Hull, England.

According to the Chronicle, Celtic now want to sign Sean Longstaff and that could make Glasgow Rangers regret not signing him in the summer.

The Chronicle reported how Rangers wanted Longstaff, but they were unable to get a deal over the line.

And if Celtic do sign Longstaff, Rangers could live to regret not making their move sooner.

Steven Gerrard’s side certainly won’t want Longstaff to excel at Celtic, otherwise it’ll make them feel that they have really missed out.

Longstaff could be available for cheap, given that his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, which means he could turn out to be a bargain buy for Celtic.

Longstaff would improve the quality of Celtic’s attacking options from midfield.

And Rangers have extra reason to hope that the transfer doesn’t go ahead, as he was a player whose talent they identified first.
