Celtic scout ‘absolutely excellent’ Scottish talent amid comparisons to Rangers star

Celtic are interested in signing Connor Barron after sending scouts to watch the Aberdeen youngster in action on Sunday afternoon.

The Bhoys have yet to really make a move in the transfer market this summer but new recruits will be on their way in.

Ange Postecoglou will want reinforcements to try and push for another league title next season.

Yet there could also be signings for the future, just like the deal to bring in Irish striker Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers in January.

Celtic continue to look for exciting youngsters and now have their sights on Aberdeen talent Barron.

Celtic are interested in signing Connor Barron

The Scottish Daily Express report that Celtic have scouted Barron ahead of potentially making a move for the youngster.

Barron was in action for Scotland Under-21’s against Belgium on Sunday, playing the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw.

Barron, 19, has come up through the Aberdeen ranks and has now broken into their first-team picture after loan spells as Brechin City and Kelty Hearts.

The midfielder made 15 first-team appearances for Aberdeen this past season and looks set for a bright future.

Postecoglou and other Celtic staff are understood to have been impressed with Barron’s displays this season.

We could now see Celtic make a move for Barron, who has actually been compared to a Rangers star.

BBC pundit and former Rangers youngster Rory Loy has been quoted by Aberdeen Live as saying that Barron plays ‘very similarly’ to Ryan Jack, the Gers ace who also came through at Aberdeen.

Celtic fans may not like Jack, but he has been a solid performer when called upon by Rangers.

Loy added that he though Barron was Scotland’s best player against Belgium, branding his performance ‘absolutely excellent’.

Celtic were seemingly there to watch Barron in action and we could see the Bhoys launch a summer move for the teenager.
