The 23-year-old striker is the third Terrors player to move to Parkhead this year after being pursued by the Bhoys for much of the summer.
Celtic have confirmed the signing of Dundee United forward Nadir Ciftci after what has been a prolonged period of negotiations, according to the club website.
The Turkish striker becomes the Bhoys’ fourth signing of the summer after Dedryck Boyata, Saidy Janko and Logan Bailly, and the club have now having made additions in various positions across the pitch.
The Terrors star has impressed in two seasons of Scottish Premiership football since arriving in 2013, and departs Tannadice having scored 33 goals and assisted 21 more in 82 matches. 14 of those goals came in the league last year as United finished in fifth position.
He joins Celtic on a four-year deal for a fee reported by the Evening Times as being £1.5 million.
What kind of player are Celtic getting?
Ciftci is somewhat of a controversial footballer. The 23-year-old is enigmatic and very skilful, but is rather prone to misdemeanours, as various red cards and SFA charges followed him in recent seasons.
Accusations of biting followed the attacker earlier this year in the Dundee derby, while Celtic captain Scott Brown may be having a word with the player after he said Ciftci ‘blatantly’ kicked him in the head in a match last season in the Mail.
Clearly, the Bhoys’ latest signing is going to be a little more of a livewire than the other players Ronny Deila has recruited this summer. Only time will tell if he’s making headlines for the right reasons.
