Brendan Rodgers has reportedly made Scott McKenna Celtic’s top target for the rest of the transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic could offer both Jonny Hayes and Ryan Christie to Aberdeen in a bid to get money off Scott McKenna, and that could be a really smart move.

Celtic are determined to sign McKenna, but the centre-back is proving expensive.

Aberdeen value the youngster very highly, and won’t let him leave for Celtic for under £5 million.

The Bhoys are struggling to get a deal over the line, but if they manage to get money off, while offloading two of their fringe players, then it could be a great move.

Both Christie’s and Hayes’ first-team chances at Parkhead this season look extremely limited.

Christie may have a bright future, but Brendan Rodgers appears reluctant to use him, while Hayes is miles down the pecking order.

Celtic now have the opportunity to effectively kill two birds with one stone, and get rid of two back-up players, while bringing in one of Rodgers’ top targets.

And if they do manage to complete the transfer deal, then Celtic could be entitled to feel that they have pulled off a very clever move.
