Celtic are pushing to sign Bayern Munich talent Christopher Scott – and there are real parallels to former Bhoys star Jeremie Frimpong.

The summer transfer window is still some way off but Celtic are still being linked with potential new signings.

With Celtic closing in on the Scottish Premiership title, you may wonder just where Ange Postecoglou would want to strengthen.

Yet we already have one big rumour emerging with Celtic chasing a deal for Bayern youngster Christopher Scott.

The Daily Record claim that Celtic could strike a £250,000 deal with Bayern willing to let Scott leave the club this summer.

Scott is far from a household name and has only played twice for Bayern’s first team – both appearances came at the back end of last season.

Formerly of Bayer Leverkusen, Scott has been in the Regionalliga Bayern this season – the fourth level in the German pyramid.

Six goals and four assists in 15 games is a decent record for the attacking midfielder but shining in the fourth-tier of Germany may not excite Celtic fans.

Still, this kind of deal feels reminiscent of Celtic signing Jeremie Frimpong back in 2019.

Frimpong was featuring in Manchester City’s development ranks but was finding that breaking through with an elite club was difficult.

Celtic swooped in to sign Frimpong in a bargain deal worth around £350,000 with add-ons – a fee eerily similar to that needed for Scott.

Celtic gave Frimpong a platform to shine and he took that chance brilliantly, excelling in the Celtic first team to showcase his huge potential.

Bayer Leverkusen swooped with an £11.5million deal for Frimpong in January 2021, and even with City taking a chunk thanks to a sell-on clause, Celtic still made a huge profit.

Those kind of deals are low risk with potential for high reward.

Talented youngsters who just can’t break through with the Bayerns and Manchester Citys of this world are desperate for a chance and Celtic can provide that.

Scott could be just like Frimpong in terms of developing rapidly at Celtic, and could also earn them huge profit if he excels with a move to Scotland.
