Ange Postecoglou affirmed in a pre-recorded message for Celtic’s AGM that the Parkhead outfit will be active in the January transfer window to address some ‘fairly evident’ needs.

The Australian has now been in charge of the Premiership giants for five-months and had time to run the rule over the Bhoys squad. With 28 players used over 25 fixtures so far.

David Turnbull has featured most often for Postecoglou with 2,158-minutes across all 25 of Celtic’s games in all competitions. Followed closely by Anthony Rolston with 2,100 over 23.

Liam Scales has played the least minutes (44) among those who Postecoglou has utilised during his Celtic tenure so far. Half the total of Vasilios Barkas (90) in two more outings.

Kyogo Furuhashi has also established himself as a key player under Postecoglou since a £4.5m transfer to Celtic. The ex-Vissel Kobe striker has scored 13 times in just 18 games.

The Japan international is the only player to score double-figures for the Hoops so far this term. While Turnbull and Filipe Jota have provided the joint-most assists with six each.

Postecoglou has now insisted he wants Celtic to strengthen further in the January transfer window to address some pressing needs. But will only move if the right player is available.

“I want to fill some of the gaps which are fairly evident to me,” Postecoglou said, via the Daily Record. “If the right person is there to bring in, we’ll do it.”

Reports have already linked Celtic with a transfer for a 21-goal striker Postecoglou knows well in Japan international Daizen Maeda.

According to The Times, Celtic are confident of reuniting Postecoglou with Maeda, who he worked with at Yokohama Marinos. The 24-year-old is in prolific form with 21 goals in 33 J-League outings this year, including nine in 16 under the Bhoys boss.

Reports by Chronicle Live also claim Celtic are eying a bargain transfer for Joe White as the midfielder’s contract at Newcastle United expires in June. But Premier League, Bundesliga and Eredivisie clubs are also interested in a potential pre-contract deal for the 19-year-old.
