Celtic’s Ian Bankier has commented on the club’s transfer budget this summer.

Celtic chairman Ian Bankier has told The Scottish Sun that there is money for Brendan Rodgers to spend, but he doesn’t expect many changes.
The Bhoys moved to appoint former Liverpool boss Rodgers last summer following Ronny Deila’s departure, and Celtic have enjoyed a quite remarkable year.

Rodgers took Celtic into the group stages of the Champions League, something that Deila couldn’t manage in two years at the club, whilst domestic success has been incredible.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title without even losing a game, won the Scottish League Cup, and can make it an unbeaten treble this weekend by beating Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final.
An unbeaten domestic campaign would be a piece of history for Rodgers, and his focus will turn to re-establishing Celtic as something of a force in European football.

Celtic may need new signings to do that this summer though, and manager Rodgers will be hoping to bring in some strong additions, with the Daily Mail recently claiming interest in Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva and Chelsea’s Charly Musonda.
Rodgers was backed in the transfer market last summer with the signings of Dorus de Vries, Cristian Gamboa, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Mousa Dembele, whilst Eboue Kouassi arrived in January.

Now, Celtic chairman Ian Bankier has told The Scottish Sun that Rodgers will have money to spend, but he isn’t expecting many changes, instead looking for ‘tinkering’ with the Bhoys squad.
“There is money within the constraint of our self-sustaining model,” said Bankier. “Qualification for Europe a second time makes that money significantly better. It is very much Brendan’s department as to what he wants — and whether he is going to let anyone go. I don’t expect wholesale revolution but I do expect some tinkering,” he added.
