Celtic want Casper Tengstedt and have now scheduled talks with the representatives of the Rosenborg striker ahead of January.

That’s according to Football Scotland, who claim that Celtic are looking to bring Rosenborg hitman Tengstedt to Scotland.

Whilst there have been claims that Rosenborg will sell for around £3.5million, it’s now understood that Celtic must pay a little more than that.

Teams in Italy and Germany are also interested in signing Tengstedt but it’s Celtic who appear to be making the most firm move.

Celtic have concerns over the future of striker Giorgos Giakoumakis and could sell the Greek striker in January.

That would leave Celtic needing to find another centre forward and South Korean international Cho Gue-sung has been heavily linked.

Tengstedt now appears to be another alternative for Celtic, who are making a rapid start to their January recruitment.

Celtic target Casper Tengstedt wants to play for Liverpool

Tengstedt, 22, only joined Rosenborg from Horsens in his native Denmark back in August.

15 goals and nine assists in just 14 games for Rosenborg is a quite staggering record though and he is unsurprisingly attracting interest.

A Denmark Under-21 international, Tengstedt’s total record for 2022 is 42 games played, 30 goals scored and 15 assists.

That’s astonishing stuff and it seems that a big move to another European country is inevitable.

Celtic will hope to win the race but Tengstedt has already outlined his ‘dream’ move.

Tengstedt told TV2 earlier this year that his dream is to play for Liverpool one day, with the Reds seemingly his favourite club.

Liverpool may not be interested just yet but Celtic have shown that they can provide a route there after Virgil van Dijk’s excellence.

Hailed as a ‘fantastic finished’ by boss Kjetil Rekdal, Tengstedt looks set for a huge future – and that future could come with Celtic.
