Celtic captain Scott Brown has called on his side to be inspired by the famed Celtic Park atmosphere, and produce another magical European night when they take on Manchester City in the Champions League tonight, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.

The Hoops were humbled in their Champions League opener as they lost 7-0 to a far superior Barcelona side two weeks ago, and they must bounce back immediately if they are to have any chance of progressing to the knock-out stages of the competition.

Brown, who has been with the club for nine years, called on his side to thrive off of the atmosphere, and use the home crowd to their advantage, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times:

“It was always going to be a difficult group, but Celtic Park should always be a tough place to come for anybody. Hopefully on the night we can start well, get the crowd behind us, step on the front foot from the start and create chances and get the momentum going. It’s about the reputation of Celtic Park as well as anything else. On the days we have played some great teams here but we have done well, we have dug deep on got some good results.”

The Glasgow giants are no strangers to defying the odds on Champions League nights at Celtic Park, with famous victories over Manchester United (2006) and Barcelona (2012).

Every single one of Brendan Rodgers’ players will have to be at their absolute best tonight if they are to have any chance against a City side who have won 10 consecutive games since the arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola.

The game kicks-off at 19:45 and can be seen live on BT Sport 2.
