The Scotland boss brought the midfielder to Celtic Park in 2007.

Scott Brown has admitted that he loved playing under Gordon Strachan when the Scotland boss was in charge at Celtic, The Scottish Sun reports.

It was Strachan who oversaw the arrival of the midfielder in 2007 and remained in charge for another two years. And Brown – who is set to be handed his 50th cap for his country by the former Southampton boss on Tuesday – insisted that he owes a lot to his first manager at Parkhead.

“I really enjoyed my time with him at Celtic. He made me a great player and got me the Player of the Year award as well,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“I enjoyed every single moment of it with him at Celtic and I’m enjoying playing for Scotland with him now even more than I have in the past.”

As the 30-year-old – who now wears the armband for the Hoops – alluded to, the pair enjoyed a decent amount of success during their time together at Celtic Park, which helped lead to Brown being awarded the Players’ Player of the Year award in Strachan’s final term at the club.

They would win the Scottish Premiership title in Brown’s first season following his move from Hibernian, and would clinch the Scottish League Cup a year later in a campaign which saw the midfielder secure his best goals return of any season he has been with the club.

And Brown will be hoping that now he is back working with his former Celtic boss on the international stage, Strachan will be able to bring the best out of him once again, as it will not only help the national side but should also benefit the Bhoys’ chances of securing the league and cup double they are currently chasing.
