Celtic supporters have responded with bemusement to Neil Lennon’s latest starting lineup.

An injury to Stephen Welsh in Wednesday’s 4-0 win against St Mirren means Shane Duffy returns in the centre of defence, while Ryan Christie comes in for Albian Ajeti further up the field.

A victory for the champions today would be their fourth successive win, but some supporters are unimpressed with the decision to drop Ajeti to the bench.

Duffy, meanwhile, has been a much-maligned figure this season and his presence in the starting XI has not been met with universal approval.

Here’s how some Celtic supporters have responded to confirmation of the team that will face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

STARTING XI: Bain, Taylor, Ajer, Kenny, Duffy, Brown, McGregor, Rogic, Turnbull, Edouard, Christie.

SUBS: Barkas, Griffiths, Ajeti Klimala, Soro, Johnston, Elyounoussi, Ralston, Laxalt

Speaking ahead of today’s game, former West Ham man Ajeti talked about the challenge provided by Scottish Premiership football.

As quoted by the official Celtic website, he said: “If I’m up front on my own, or it’s two strikers, it doesn’t matter. As long as we have success as a team, that’s all that matters.

“I knew it was a hard league, a tough league with lots of fight. I would say it’s like English football – with a proper English mentality, which is good. I like that in football.

“As I said, it’s tough, it’s hard, it’s very intense and we’ve got the quality to play but also the quality to fight in games, and we’re prepared for any kind of games.

“I’m back, I’m fully fit now and I’m feeling good. We’re winning, so everything is going well at the moment.”
