The Hoops face the Dees in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has spoken out ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership encounter with Dundee at Dens Park, insisting the Hoops will not have room for complacency despite having hammered their opponents in recent games.
Earlier this season, the Bhoys won 5-0 at Dens Park in October, and in the Parkhead encounter two months later they ran out 3-0 winners, while the disparity of the two teams in terms of points and league position also suggests that there is one clear favourite in the fixture.
What’s also telling from the last fixture between the two is that Celtic were utterly dominant against the Dee even beyond the scoreline – 76 percent possession, 27 shots, of which 14 on target, and 10 corners (Sky Sports News).
Despite all this, however, Boyata was largely respectful of the weekend’s opposition and said it wouldn’t be easy by any means for his side, although he did suggest that Dundee have a tendency to park the bus.
“It’s always difficult to play against a team that sits in and defends with 10 men behind the ball for the majority of the game,” the Belgian, who has featured extensively for the first team this term but has seen his campaign disrupted by injury, told the official Celtic website.
“We’ve played against a lot of teams who choose that style of play over the years, and Saturday (against Aberdeen) was no different to that. It’s up to us to find ways to counteract that, and find ways to adapt in those situations.”
Against the Dons, Celtic had 66 percent possession (Sky Sports) but couldn’t break them down as the game finished in a goalless draw which left them eight points ahead of second-placed Rangers in the table.
