Neil Lennon has claimed that Tom Rogic will ‘definitely’ play a role in Celtic’s season after his move away from Glasgow collapsed.
The Australia international was heavily linked with a move to a Qatar-based club during the summer transfer window.
And despite Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell accepting a £3.5 million bid for the big man [The Record], the deal fell through over personal terms.
Nevertheless, Lennon says that he’s been impressed by the player in training as of late and insist that he’ll have a part to play after the international break.
He told the club’s official website: “Tom Rogic has been training well in the last few weeks. He’s had a couple of knee and ankles problems, but at the minute, he’s good.
“He’s in the building for the next couple of weeks now so we can get some more physical work in with him. He will definitely play a part from here. There was a bid in for him, it was accepted but the deal fell through.”
This really isn’t bad news at all for Celtic.
Normally if a deal falls through, and it costs you £3.5 million, then it’s a bad thing, but Rogic has been an exceptional player for the Bhoys in recent years, particularly under Brendan Rodgers.
The fitness hasn’t always been there, as Lennon alluded to, but the quality has and it doesn’t harm Celtic’s 10-in-a-row bid at all if he’s there this season.
