Celtic manager Neil Lennon has spoken highly of central defender Jozo Simunovic on the club’s official website following the match against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

The Hoops got the better of Kilmarnock at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

Simunovic scored the only goal of the match midway through the second half, as the Glasgow giants took a step towards winning the league title for the eighth season in a row.

Celtic manager Lennon has praised the 24-year-old, and his comments suggest that he is the perfect defender for him.

Lennon told Celtic’s official website: “Jozo has been outstanding for me since I’ve come in. I want my centre-halves to attack the ball more and he’s doing that on a regular basis.”

Simunovic has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Dinamo Zagreb.

The central defender has established himself as an important player for the Hoops, and he can only get better as he is just 24 years of age.

According to WhoScored, the defender has made 14 starts and one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic this season, scoring one goal in the process.
