The Hoops academy graduate has been sensational for the Parkhead side this decade.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has spoken highly of James Forrest, describing the Hoops winger as a superb big-game player who is in his peak years but has the ability to still get better, as quoted by the official club website.
The 28-year-old Bhoys ace made his debut over nine years ago during Lennon’s first spell in charge at Celtic Park and has played a huge role in the ensuing haul of trophies brought to Parkhead.
Since his debut, Forrest has made upwards of 350 senior appearances, notching up 80 goals and 79 assists for the Hoops according to Transfermarkt, and with his contract running until 2022 as things stand, there is likely plenty more to come from the player.
This week, Forrest launched his biography, Homegrown Hero, which will be published at the start of December, as the £4.5million-rated player (Transfermarkt) looks back on what has already been an extraordinary career in the green and white.
“Jamesy’s been getting a bit of stick about the book from the lads because he’s just so quiet,” Lennon told the Celtic website. “I remember him as an 18-year-old and his persona hasn’t changed one bit.
“His football is of a really quality now, and he’s just been superb. He’s a big-game player and over a long, long period of time at a big club where the expectation levels and the pressure are huge, he just seems to take it all in his stride and get better. That’s the key – Jamesy’s getting better, and there’s a maturity now at 28. We feel he’s in his peak years.”
