Neil Lennon’s tactical and personnel changes had no affect for Celtic yesterday.
Neil Lennon has admitted to The Scottish Sun that his substitutions had virtually no impact in Celtic’s shock defeat on Sunday.
The 10-man Hoops lost 2-0 away at Livingston in a loss which saw Rangers move top of the Scottish Premiership later in the afternoon.
Celtic were playing with a man less for over an hour following Ryan Christie’s first-half red card.
Lennon went for a two-pronged attack early in the second period by putting Vakoun Issouf Bayo up front alongside Odsonne Edouard, before Jonny Hayes and Olivier Ntcham also made cameos in the final quarter.
But the Bhoys’ manager concedes that none of his substitutes had the desired affect.
He told The Scottish Sun: “I hoped the subs would help us but they didn’t really impact the game as we would have liked.
“I didn’t really think about making more changes. We put a strong team out. We were comfortable early on in a very difficult environment without really testing their goal.”
Celtic also dropped Premiership points in the 1-1 draw at Hibernian last week and for them, the international break comes at a good time.
Lennon’s side appear to be in a bit of a funk and the two-week hiatus might be of some use, as it was for Rangers who have won all four of their league games – and scored 17 goals – since the last break in September.
