Scott Allan will leave Celtic at the end of the season and join Hibernian.
Allan has not made a single competitive appearance for Celtic so far this season and will leave the Hoops at the end of the season when his current contract runs out.
The 27-year-old midfielder has already signed a pre-contract agreement with Hibernian and will join the Scottish Premiership club on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.
The former Scotland Under-21 international actually signed the pre-contract agreement with Hibs when Lennon was in charge of the club.
Lennon, now the manager of Celtic until the end of the season, has suggested that Allan will get playing time between now and the end of the season.
Lennon told The Scotsman about Allan: “He’s played a few development games but I would like to give him a little run if we can get over the line [in the title race] as quickly as possible but there are no guarantees with that.
“If the opportunity comes along then I’d love to. He’s training well and having a go at it and it’s a difficult position he finds himself in. I would like to give him some game time and a few others as well.”
Good decision from Neil Lennon?
Lennon wants to give Allan some minutes after Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title this season, and that is certainly good news for the midfielder.
However, with the 27-year-old leaving Celtic Park in the summer, perhaps it would be better for Celtic if Lennon gives youngsters and other fringe players the chance before Allan.
