Celtic manager Neil Lennon has praised Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos on The Keys and Gray Show on beIN SPORTS.

Lennon, who was appointed as the Celtic manager last week until the end of the season following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City in the Premier League, believes that Rangers striker Morelos is a great player.

The former Hibernian boss has also said that Rangers remain a big threat to Celtic in regard to the Scottish Premiership title race.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 66 points from 28 matches, as many as eight points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Lennon said on The Keys and Gray Show on beIN SPORTS: “There’s still a lot of work to be done in terms of the league. Rangers are going very, very well at the minute under Steven, scoring a lot of goals.

“In Morelos they’ve got a great player, a great goalscorer. So they are still a big, big threat and we’ve just got to maintain our consistency and our standards.

“One draw or any dropped points at all and the psychology of things can change very quickly.”

Big player

Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and the Colombia international has been superb for Rangers so far this campaign.

The 22-year-old has made 23 starts and one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers so far this season, scoring 16 goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

For Steven Gerrard’s side to give Celtic a run for their money, Morelos has to continue banging in the goals for the rest of the season.
