Celtic manager Neil Lennon has responded to Rangers chairman Dave King’s recent comments about the Ibrox club, as quoted in The Daily Record.

According to The Daily Record, Rangers chairman King recently said that Steven Gerrard’s side are “within tangible reach” of becoming the top side in Scotland.

Rangers have not won any major trophy this season, with bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic set to clinch the Scottish Premiership title for the eighth year in a row.

Celtic manager Lennon has responded to those comments from King, and is quoted as saying by The Daily Record: “It’s not for me to say. Others can give their opinion on that.

“I can only speak on behalf of Celtic and since 2000 our record domestically has been pretty good.

“We have good people, good recruitment and a class board who keep their powder dry.

“We don’t talk ourselves up, we just try and maintain our standards over the past few years or so.”

Bold statement

Celtic are as many as 11 points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, and it is only a matter of time before the Hoops clinch the league title.

Rangers have a good team, but Celtic are better, and the Gers will have to invest a lot in the squad in the summer transfer window in order to close the gap on the Hoops.

Celtic will face Hibernian away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, while Rangers will take on Heart of Midlothian on Saturday.
