Neil Lennon has defended the state of the Celtic Park pitch following fans.

Numerous supporters raised concerns over its condition during last week’s 2-0 win over Ross County,

Celtic have played 14 games on the surface in all competitions this season, with a 15th coming up against Dundee United this afternoon.

The champions spent around £1.5m in the summer of 2018 on a desso hybrid pitch, similar to that used by the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea.

Despite signs of wear and tear, the Celtic boss does not appear overly concerned.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, Lennon said: “It’s just this time of year. The weather’s inclement.

“But it’s not stopping us from playing the type of football we want to play. It’s maybe no different from other years.

“I’ve played on worse, put it that way.”

Lennon’s men are aiming to build on the recent momentum generated by three consecutive Premiership victories when they play host to Micky Mellon’s men.

Rangers are in action at the same time against St Mirren in Paisley, with the gap at the top of the table currently standing at 16 points.

The two sides meet on Saturday at Ibrox in the second derby of the season.
