Celtic’s Vakoun Issouf Bayo has injured his hamstring.
Neil Lennon has confirmed to Celtic TV that Vakoun Issouf Bayo is injured with a hamstring problem.
Bayo was a noticeable absentee from the Hoops’ 0-0 draw with St Gallen last night, having also been missing for a game with their Under-21s earlier in the day.
The Ivorian striker, a £2 million signing in January [Herald], played just one minute of football for Celtic during the second half of last season after picking up an injury.
He played and scored in a friendly win in Austria last weekend, and Lennon has confirmed to the club’s television channel that he doesn’t know how long he’ll be sidelined for this time.
He said: “Unfortunately we have to wait and see how he is. He felt a little twinge on the hamstring. He was looking really good as well.”
With a Champions League qualifier away at Sarajevo on the horizon next week, it’s a blow for Lennon if Bayo is unavailable.
Odsonne Edouard appears to be Celtic’s only fit and recognised striker, given that Leigh Griffiths has barely kicked a ball in 2019 after being missing from first-team action since December.
