Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers worked with Callum McGregor at Celtic.

McGregor has recently signed a new five-year contract with Celtic and will stay at the Glasgow giants until 2024.
The 26-year-old midfielder was wanted by Leicester in the summer transfer window, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
Leicester manager Rodgers worked with the Scotland international midfielder at Celtic, and McGregor has said that the former Liverpool manager has been in touch with him after he put pen to paper on a new contract.
McGregor told The Scottish Sun: “It’s nice to get that interest. I had a good relationship with the previous manager. He goes away and there’s that link that he wants you.
“It’s nice as it shows you were doing something right for the time he was here. You take it as a compliment but as soon as it passed, I’ve been totally focused on football.”
The Celtic star added: “Brendan texted me just to say ‘Congratulations, you really deserve it’. He said he was happy for me. I just sent him a text back saying ‘Thanks very much for everything you have done as well’.”

Celtic stay
McGregor is a very good midfielder who has been superb for Celtic over the years, and there is no surprise that Premier League club Leicester reportedly wanted him in the summer transfer window.
Perhaps in the future the Foxes and other clubs in the Premier League could make a move again for the Celtic star, who is only 26 years of age and can only get better in the coming years.
