Scott Brown escaped a potentially-serious injury for Celtic after a poor challenge from the Hearts star.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has suggested to BBC Sport that retrospective action must be taken on Steven Naismith’s challenge on Scott Brown in the Hoops’ 3-1 win at Hearts today.
The 31-year-old escaped punishment for a late tackle on the Celtic captain, in which Naismith appeared to stand on Brown’s leg after the ball was played.
Fans of the Parkhead club have condemned the former Everton man, and now Rodgers has said to BBC Sport that the “authorities” should take a second look at it.
He said: “You only need to see it. The ball was gone and the follow through is there to see.”
“The ball was well gone and it wasn’t just late, it was very late. It will be just interesting to see what the authorities make of that.”
Odsonne Edouard was forced off on 54 minutes with a suspected hamstring injury.
The French striker, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, has been in cracking form lately, netting three in his last three games across all competitions.
Celtic need all hands on decks ahead of the Scottish Cup final with Motherwell at Hampden Park on Saturday week, and Rodgers confirms that the 20-year-old may miss out if his hamstring fears are confirmed.
The Northern Irishman added: “It looked like a hamstring so we’re going to need to assess that and see where that’s at. If it is his hamstring then it’s going to be hard for him to make it.”
