Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers wasn’t happy with Scott McKenna today.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has criticised Scott McKenna for the foul which led to Odsonne Edouard going off injured in this afternoon’s 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
Edouard was replaced by Scott Sinclair shortly before the half-time break following a foul by the Aberdeen centre-back.
The Celtic manager has now slammed the ‘reckless’ challenge by McKenna – a reported target of Rodgers this past summer [The Scotsman] – and confirmed that the former Paris Saint-Germain product was suffering with a dead leg.
“We will have to see, it was a dead leg,” said Rodgers to The Record when asked if the French striker would be fit for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Red Bull Salzburg.
“It was a very reckless challenge I have to add. When you see the challenge back, I don’t think it was a penalty as it’s just outside the box.
“But when a centre half comes across like that and jumps off the floor that high with two feet then catches the player high up on his thigh – which he has the marks to prove – then it’s a clear foul.”
Sinclair’s introduction wound up helping Celtic on the day, given that the former England international ended up scoring the winner on 63 minutes.
But the Hoops have already lost Edouard to injury once this season and the Northern Irish boss will want to avoid losing him again, especially after Moussa Dembele left the club.
That being said, Leigh Griffiths has proven himself a very able striker in recent weeks, reminding everybody of his class, so the Scot can deputise this Thursday if his team-mate hasn’t shrugged off the dead leg.
