Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side welcome Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic to Ibrox tomorrow in the Old Firm Derby.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during a training session at Lennoxtown on December 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers spoke to reporters, ahead of his side’s clash with Rangers at Ibrox tomorrow, and highlighted how the lack of away fans could actually end up working in his side’s favour, as quoted by BBC Sport.

The Hoops head into the game on top of the pile, three points clear of second placed Rangers, and a win would see them finish the first half of the season six points clear of their bitter rivals.

Celtic have been nowhere near their brilliant best this season, but the fact that they still sit at the top of the table just proves how much quality they have.

There will only be 750 Hoops fans at Ibrox tomorrow, after both clubs decided to restrict visiting allocations earlier this year.

Rodgers explained why that could very well be advantageous for his team, however, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by BBC Sport:

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during a training session at Lennoxtown Training Centre on April 27, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“I think it’s better in both grounds when both sets of supporters are there in their numbers. But it can work for or against you as a home team. In that situation when you have predominantly the support in the ground it can add something to the players either positively or negatively.”

Tomorrow’s clash will be fiercely contested as usual, and much will depend on which team handles the emotions of the day better.

Celtic are well experienced in winning at Ibrox, having won all of their last four games at Rangers’ ground, and should they make it five in a row tomorrow, Gerrard might just have to wave goodbye to the league title this season.
