Brendan Rodgers has told the Scotsman that Celtic could have completed deals for 20 players this month, but he has had to be selective.

Celtic have brought in Marvin Compper and Lewis Morgan so far this month, but they are on the look out for more new additions.

There has been some criticism over Celtic’s transfer window, with fans expecting more new arrivals.

But Rodgers insists that just bringing in players for the sake of it, isn’t a strategy which he wants to use.

“I could have signed 20 players up until now, or more,” he said.

“I could have changed my whole squad if I wanted to. But I needed to make sure it was the right quality, not just domestically but for any European football we might have further down the line.

“So that’s where we are and the club is working very hard. I know it’s boring and there’s nothing to write about. For the supporters it’s the same. But we’re working very hard to get the right ones in. That will allow us to be better. I’m happy with the squad but we want to make it stronger.”

Celtic are looking to to strengthen their squad to aid their chances of progressing in Europe.

Celtic will take on Zenit St. Petersburg next month, and Rodgers is determined to have an increased amount of quality available to him for that contest.

Celtic will have to work quickly if they are to bring in more players this month, as time is running out now before the deadline is reached.
