Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-0 to win the Scottish League Cup final.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Scott Brown dominated the Scottish League Cup final with his performance in central midfield.

Brown has shown some of his best form ever at Celtic since Rodgers took charge, and the midfielder was excellent again as the Bhoys beat Aberdeen at Hampden Park yesterday.

Rodgers’ side ran out 3-0 winners to secure their first piece of silverware this season, and the Northern Irish boss singled out Brown for praise after the match.

“I couldn’t be more proud for the team and if I am to say anything on getting my first trophy as Celtic manager, to have Scott as the captain is a huge honour,” Rodgers said.

“He is someone who represents how we work every day, his intensity, energy, enthusiasm. He wants to be the best and that is no different whether it is here or Alloa, he is up for every game.

“So again, outstanding control of the game, he dominated the game today and collectively he pulls the team together on the field and you see him improving tactically.”

Celtic’s performance against Aberdeen was hugely impressive, and it highlighted how far ahead of all their domestic rivals they are currently.

Aberdeen went into the weekend as Celtic’s closest challengers in the Scottish Premiership, but they were brushed aside by Rodgers’ men.

Celtic scored their first goal through Tom Rogic early on, before James Forrest and Moussa Dembele also got on the scoresheet.

The Bhoys remain unbeaten in domestic action this season, and there a strong possibility that Rodgers could complete the treble in his first season in charge at Parkhead.
