Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Scotsman that he really likes three of Glasgow Rangers’ January signings.

Rangers were extremely active in the previous transfer window, with a flock of players heading to Ibrox.

The impact of Rangers’ new signings has already been clear, with Graeme Murty’s side starting to put pressure on Celtic at the top of the league.

Rangers have reduced the gap on their Glasgow rivals down to six points, and have put up an unlikely title challenge.

And Rodgers admits that he is seen great improvements in the Light Blues’ play.

The Celtic boss said: “They look to have a better spirit. That’s clear – and Graeme’s looking to maximise what he can get out of the players. They’ve brought some experienced guys in – Jamie Murphy I liked even when he was up here. He’s a good player.

“Russell Martin has been around a long time. Greg Docherty is a player who’s a supporter of the club, which always gives you a little injection as well.”

Rangers are due to meet Celtic next weekend, in what looks to be one of the most important Old-Firm derbies in recent memory.

Rangers will have the advantage of playing in front of their home crowd at Ibrox, but Celtic still go into the contest as favourites.

Rodgers’ side have lost just two domestic games in the last two seasons, so Murty’s side have a sizeable task ahead of them, if they are to pick up the three points.
