Warburton has brought plenty of success to Ibrox, leading Glasgow Rangers to promotion and a cup triumph.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been full of praise for the job that Mark Warburton has done at Rangers, and insisted that he was delighted for him, The Scottish Sun reports.
The Englishman has enjoyed an excellent first season at Ibrox, leading the Light Blues to the Scottish Championship title and the Challenge Cup trophy. And while they ultimately failed to win the Scottish Cup, they also got to enjoy a victory over Rodgers’ new side in the semi-final.
And the Northern Irishman – who worked alongside Warburton during his time in charge of Watford – discussed his view of the job that the 53-year-old has done with the Gers.
“Mark is a good guy. I was only at Watford a short time as a manager and Mark was the youth academy director there,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“He was very loyal, very supportive, an excellent coach and he had a good rapport with the players.
“I am delighted to see how well he has done.”
The mutual respect between the pair will be severely put to the test from next season with the Old Firm derby becoming a Scottish Premiership fixture once again.
And with Warburton’s side hinting in the Scottish Cup semi-final that they have the potential to put some kind of pressure on the Bhoys near the top of the table in the near future, Rodgers will be aware that one of his main tasks at Parkhead will be ensuring that his men continue their run of consecutive league titles and take the Champions League spot that comes with it.
