Celtic drew their last match 1-1 with Rapid Vienna, with Jonny Hayes impressing.
Brendan Rodgers has told the Irish Independent that he thought Jonny Hayes was brilliant for Celtic in their most recent friendly against Rapid Vienna.
Celtic drew 1-1 against the Austrian side in the pre-season sharpener, and Hayes excelled in the contest.
The Bhoys’ newest recruit showed his attacking quality by helping to earn Rodgers’ side a penalty, which Moussa Dembele duly converted.
And Rodgers sung the praises of the former Aberdeen man after the match.
He said: “Jonny made an incredible run from deep to get on to the ball and then go and create the penalty.
“That’s what Jonny can do. He can take you up the pitch. I like players with that very fast profile in the wide areas as he can go from one end of the pitch to the other very quickly.
“He has that ability to go inside and outside and I thought he was excellent when he came on. He looked a real threat and he worked hard defensively and he’s always an outlet with his quality.”
Celtic are still on tour, as they look to prepare for the new season.
The Bhoys begin their competitive campaign with a Champions League qualifier later this month.
Hayes is expected to be the first of a number of additions at Celtic this summer, with Rodgers wanting to add to his squad.
The Bhoys are determined to compete in Europe next term – after dominating Scottish football last season.
Celtic’s next friendly comes against Slavia Prague, as Rodgers’ side get more chances to impress.
