The Celtic boss raved about his employer this weekend.

Speaking to The Scotsman, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has paid a glowing tribute to the Hoops’ majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.

The Northern Irishman was appointed Celtic manager in the summer after Ronny Deila resigned from his post and so far it looks a fine decision by the club’s board.

Rodgers’s side, who have already won the League Cup, are eight points clear of Rangers at the top of the Premiership – and with three games in hand.

Also, the former Liverpool boss succeeded where Deila failed on two occasions and led Celtic back into the group stages of the Champions League – a 3-3 draw with Manchester City at Parkhead being undoubtedly the highlight of an otherwise failed European campaign.

According to The Telegraph, Rodgers and Desmond enjoyed a three-hour meal in London prior to the 43-year-old being offered the role.

And the young manager, speaking to The Scotsman, cannot speak highly enough about the Irish billionaire – both as a boss and as a man.

“He’s very engaging. I love spending time with him. Every message he’ll ever send me or every conversation we have, it’s uplifting. He’s a real custodian of the club. He’s really, really Celtic daft.”
