Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup tomorrow.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Daily Record that Glasgow Rangers winger Barrie McKay has impressed him this season.
When Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Celtic in the last Old-Firm derby, Rodgers was pictured consoling McKay at the end of the contest.
And the Northern Irish boss has reiterated how impressed he was with McKay that day.
“You know what these games mean to players, to people, and when you end up on the losing side it’s not so nice,” he said.
“As much as I’m a Celtic manager and love my club and want us to win, I have empathy in that situation because I know sometimes that is at the other end.
“I was offering support because the kid had played well, and one or two of the other boys as well. Before I went into my own lot and to congratulate them I was offering a bit of support because he did well.”
Celtic are due to take on Rangers again this weekend, as they look to continue to assert their dominance over their Glasgow rivals.
Celtic go into the derby match on Sunday still unbeaten in domestic action.
Celtic have beaten Rangers three times this season, with the Light Blues struggling to compete.
Rangers are currently 33 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, after what has been a disappointing campaign for the Ibrox side.
