Brendan Rodgers has confirmed to BBC Sport that Celtic’s Tom Rogic is available for Thursday’s Europa League clash away to Rosenborg.

The 25-year-old missed Saturday’s 3-0 win at Hamilton following international duty with Australia.

Rogic, who signed a new contract with Celtic back in May, suffered a minor knee injury earlier this month, but Rodgers confirmed to BBC Sport that his star midfielder is available for selection in Norway this week.

“He’ll be available for both games,” Rodgers said. “It was just too much of a risk for him to play at the weekend. He looked fantastic in training this morning.”

Captain Scott Brown has missed the last month of football through injury, but the former Liverpool boss says that the 33-year-old will be assessed this week.

“Scott’s been training now with the squad. We’ll just assess him for the remainder of the week and see what level he’s at and take it from there.”

Leaving Brown aside for a moment, having a player of Rogic’s ability fit again is a huge boost for the Celtic boss.

If second-placed Leipzig drop points away to runaway leaders Salzburg, the Hoops will move second with one Europa League game to go if they beat bottom-of-the-table Rosenborg.

Simply put, the Bhoys’ chances of victory go way up with a fully-fit Rogic back in the first XI and Celtic fans will be desperate to see him.
