Celtic are in desperate need of a win against the Bundesliga side, but will have to do it without three of their key men.

Brendan Rodgers has spoken about the unfortunate situation that has resulted in Celtic travelling to Germany for their crucial Champions League tie with Borussia Monchengladbach without three of their key men, Sky Sports reports.

The Hoops face the Bundesliga side on Tuesday knowing that anything less than a victory will all but end their hopes of remaining in Europe beyond the group-stage.

But they will have to do it without Leigh Griffiths, Jozo Simunovic and Kolo Toure. Sky Sports reports that the trio have been struck down due to various reasons so will not be involved in Germany.

But Rodgers has tried to remain positive despite the setback.

“It is unfortunate but you can’t control it. It is something that you can’t worry about,” he said, as reported by Sky Sports.

“You hope those players can get back as quick as they can but it is an on-going issue with Jozo and Kolo.”

The Celtic boss will surely be trying to use the setback to galvanise the squad that he does have available to him.

The loss of three influential players will leave a greater number of people writing the Bhoys off before the game has even begun, so Rodgers will be hoping that that inspires the rest of the side to spring a major upset and keep the club’s European dream alive.
