Celtic boss admits Kyle Lafferty caused his side problems, and Rangers could have signed the striker.

Brendan Rodgers admitted to the National that Kyle Lafferty caused Celtic defence’s great problems yesterday, as Hearts beat them 4-0, and those comments may just prove that Glasgow Rangers missed an opportunity by not snapping up the Northern Irish international when they had the chance.
Rangers were heavily linked with Lafferty in the summer, after his time at Norwich City came to an end.
Rangers were thought to be interested in the experienced forward, but no offer was made, and Hearts ended up snapping Lafferty up.

Lafferty has gone on to make an impressive impact in the Scottish Premiership, after hitting 11 goals in 22 appearances for Hearts.
Lafferty’s performance against Celtic yesterday was arguably his best in a Hearts shirt to date, with even Rodgers praising the target-man.
“Defensively we struggled,” Rodgers admitted. “Hearts played a direct game which is fine and we failed to cope with Lafferty in the first period.

“He gave our two centre halves problems and you have to defend well to win a game.”
Rangers must now have some regret over not moving for Lafferty last summer.
Although Alfredo Morelos has scored fairly frequently for Rangers, the Light Blues have lacked quality.
And, given that Lafferty has troubled the best defence in Scotland, Rangers must be disappointed that they didn’t push harder to sign Lafferty six months ago.
