Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers speaks out on Maryan Shved.

Brendan Rodgers, Manager of Celtic celebrates following the Scottish Cup Final between Motherwell and Celtic at Hampden Park on May 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has clarified the situation over winger Maryan Shved.

The club are at an advanced stages of a deal to sign Shved from Ukrainian side Karpaty Lviv, BBC Sport reported.

Brendan Rodgers told the club’s media channels after the game that Shved’s medical is complete, and he will head back out on loan.

Shved is having an impressive season in Ukraine and it makes sense for him to continue there if he is not in Celtic’s immediate plans.

Loanee Oliver Burke will not be at the club next season, decreasing the competition for Shved.

Fans have been unsure what to make of the Shved deal.

On one hand it is a bargain for an international player, but Celtic’s signings have had mixed success under Rodgers and expectations have resultantly lowered.
