Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are believed to be considering putting Steve Clarke in charge, and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is a fan.

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers celebrates during the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Scotsman that Glasgow Rangers-linked boss Steve Clarke is an outstanding manager.

Rodgers was defending the standard of bosses in Scotland, when he, perhaps, gave away who he feels should be put in charge at Ibrox next term.

Current Rangers boss Graeme Murty’s future remains undecided, but it seems that he could exit at the end of the campaign.

And Clarke has been heavily linked with the vacancy, with the Scotsman suggesting that he is on the Light Blues wishlist.

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Kilmarnock at Ibrox Stadium on March 17, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

And Rodgers said: “There are really good coaches up here, Scotland has always produced outstanding players and coaches.

“You’ve got Neil Lennon at Hibs, Derek McInnes at Aberdeen, Steve Clarke at Kilmarnock, and there are lots of others.”

Rangers have been unable to truly challenge Celtic in recent years, with Brendan Rodgers’ side set to win their seventh league title in succession this term.

Steve Clarke manager of Reading looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Reading and AFC Bournemouth at Madejski Stadium on April 14, 2015 in Reading, England.

If Clarke was to be appointed at Rangers, Celtic may have more competition for top spot though.

Clarke has done a highly impressive job at Kilmarnock since taking charge, guiding them into fifth place in the Scottish table.

Rangers and Celtic will lock horns at the weekend again in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
