Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been quoted by BBC Live’s coverage of their win over St. Mirren as saying he “does not care” about Rangers’ result. Postecoglou watched his Celtic side win 2-0 at Parkhead on Wednesday.
Frustrated in the first half, Celtic came back in the second with a more-effective display – scoring goals through defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, and captain Callum McGregor. It saw Celtic maintain their lead at the top.
Rangers also secured three points, thanks to Glen Kamara’s early goal. It puts a couple of Premiership draws behind them – which has seen Celtic go three points clear. They held on to the 1-0 win over St. Johnstone, in Perth.
Postecoglou was asked after the match if he knew the Rangers result, or spent time checking if they had won: “I don’t care. It makes no difference. What’s important is if we are winning games then we are in good shape.”
Postecoglou on Rangers result: Celtic just need to keep winning
Following their dismal defeat to Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League – a far cry from Rangers’ historic win over Borussia Dortmund – there might have been a slight hangover.
Celtic drew with Hibernian on the weekend, a point that is hardly the end of the world given the difficult of playing at Easter Road. Then, another clean sheet and a 2-0 win on Wednesday keeps Celtic three points clear.
As long as Celtic keep winning, then they will secure the title. With nine league games to play, there is still a lot to happen. Including, two Old Firm matches between the Glasgow rivals.
