Celtic star has proven it’s never too late.

Celtic’s Ryan Christie has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround over the past month.

His match winning performance in the Scottish League Cup semi-final has transformed his career and earned him a new three-year-contract.

It is a surprise considering he was being tipped to leave the club in the summer after previously failing to figure in Brendan Rodgers’ plans and spending two loan spells away from Celtic.

Christie is 23 and from Celtic’s perspective, a late bloomer.

This can only give encouragement to forgotten signing Kundai Benyu.

Celtic beat competition from English Premier League teams to sign Benyu in 2017 and so far his Celtic career has been a disappointment.

He is not part of the first team squad and was recently overtaken in the pecking order by Daniel Arzani before his injury.

So while it’s easy to label Benyu as a ‘flop’ at this point, it may not always be that way.

He is still only 20 and with the right work ethic, he may one day find himself in a similar position to breakthrough star Ryan Christie.

Even if he is not in consideration at present, Christie’s turnaround gives Benyu hope that his situation can too turn around.
