Celtic may need to find a new striker before the transfer deadline, and they appear to be nearing an unbelievable bargain for Giorgios Giakoumakis.
Odsonne Edouard’s future remains up in the air, whilst Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths can’t really be relied upon as first-choice strikers.
Kyogo Furuhashi has helped, but signing a more physical, target man-type striker should be a priority, hence the interest in OH Leuven’s Thomas Henry.
Now, the Daily Record claim that Celtic want to sign Giorgios Giakoumakis in a smart deal from VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands.
It’s claimed that Ange Postecoglou has already spoken to Giakoumakis about a move, which would cost just £2.5million.
That’s an unbelievable deal.
Giakoumakis smashed 29 goals in just 33 games last season, all whilst showing that he is big, physical and dangerous in the air at 6ft 1in tall.
With 26 league goals last season, Giakoumakis finished seven goals clear of Donyell Malen in the scoring charts over in the Eredivisie.

Malen completed a big money move to Borussia Dortmund for around 10 times the fee Celtic are potentially paying for Giakoumakis.
That shows what an incredible deal Celtic could strike, as very few strikers go for just £2.5million after smashing 26 goals in a struggling side.
Postecoglou will have contacts back in Greece who know all about Giakoumakis, and he can bring the physicality that Celtic need up top.
Giakoumakis turns 27 in December, so he may not make Celtic a major profit moving forward, but the price is just so good that the Bhoys can’t say no.
