Celtic recently signed Kundai Benyu following his departure from Ipswich Town in the summer transfer window.

Celtic recently completed the signing of Kundai Benyu following the midfielder’s departure from Ipswich Town in the Championship in England.

The 19-year-old is a very talented and promising midfielder, but the teenager is still raw and is probably not ready for the Bhoys’ first team just yet.

Of course, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is going to use the youngster in the first team next season, but one should not be surprised if he features more prominently for the development side instead.

Celtic fans should rest assured that they are getting a very mature player in Benyu. Back in the summer of 2016, Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy was quoted as saying by The East Anglian Daily Times that that the youngster had an attitude problem.

Instead of throwing a fit and hitting back at McCarthy, Benyu showed remarkable maturity and actually apologised to the Ipswich boss.

“It’s my fault really,” The East Anglian Daily Times quoted the teenager as saying in November 2016. “I had an attitude problem last season which put the gaffer off using me but I’ve apologised now and we’re on good terms again so it’s all good now.”

Benyu failed to break into Ipswich’s first team last season, but he enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aldershot Town.

As reported by BBC Sport, the midfielder scored five goals in 23 appearances for the National League club during his loan spell.

Celtic fans should not expect Benyu to do great things at Celtic Park next season, but the midfielder should prove to be a very good long-term signing for the Scottish Premiership giants.
